Guided Tour of Resistance Sites
Remembering the Resistance
Monday May 27th
09.00 – 12.00
Rendezvous at the Ancienne Mairie/Passe Muraille Car Park,
May 27th is the day the French remember the members of the Resistance from World War 2. As many will be aware this area was very important in the movement against the Germans and many people were killed in their efforts to obstruct the activities of the German Army of Occupation. This guided tour will visit a number of sites where plaques are placed around La Souterraine. You will need to travel by car to each venue, but hopefully will be able to car share. At each place a brief history will be told, flowers placed and a brief silence observed.
This will be led by a local historian M Vaugelade, this should be a very interesting morning. The tour will be in French but we hope to provide brief notes in English and a map thanks to member Alain Pruchon.
